More than just a trip…

Join Her International from April 3 to 18, 2027 for a meaningful journey combining cultural discovery, community connection and hands-on participation in a locally led classroom construction project.

Your trip will begin in Kathmandu, where you’ll experience Nepal’s culture and historic sights. From there, you’ll travel to Dang District and spend nine days working alongside Creating Possibilities Nepal, local community members and skilled construction professionals to support the construction of new classrooms.

You’ll also learn about Her International’s programs and meet some of the women and students connected to our work through activities coordinated by Her International and Creating Possibilities.

No construction experience is required—just a willingness to work hard, learn, remain flexible and be part of a team.

This is an opportunity to experience Nepal differently: through partnership, learning and shared purpose.

Experience Nepal and contribute to a community led project

Begin your journey in Kathmandu, where you will have time to recover from your travels and experience the city’s culture and historic sights. From there, the group will travel to western Nepal for nine days supporting the construction of new classrooms.

The project is planned and led locally in partnership with Creating Possibilities Nepal, Her International’s long-standing partner. Participants will work alongside the local team on tasks suited to their abilities and the needs of the project.

You will also learn more about Her International’s programs and meet women and students connected to our work through activities coordinated and supervised by Her International and Creating Possibilities.

GOOD TO KNOW

Each participant is responsible for arranging and paying for international airfare. Once your participation and flights are confirmed, send your complete itinerary to Her International so that airport transportation can be coordinated in Kathmandu.
You are welcome to extend your time in Nepal before or after the group trip. Any accommodation, transportation, meals, activities or other costs outside April 3 to 18, 2027 are your responsibility. Airport transfers outside the designated arrival and departure arrangements will be at your expense.
Participants are strongly encouraged to raise a minimum of $1,000 in support of Her International’s programs, including the classroom project.
Her International will provide fundraising ideas, sample messages and practical support to help you reach your goal. Fundraising is also an opportunity to share the purpose of the project and Her International’s community-led work with your family, friends and networks.

Travel Requirements

Every participant must carry travel and emergency medical insurance for the full duration of the trip. Your coverage may be available through an extended benefits plan or may need to be purchased separately. After obtaining coverage, send proof of insurance to Her International by February 1, 2027.
Consult a qualified healthcare professional or travel clinic well before departure for personalized advice about recommended immunizations, medications and health precautions for Nepal. Participants are responsible for all related appointments and costs.

Participants are responsible for obtaining the correct visa and meeting Nepal’s entry requirements. Review the current instructions from the Embassy of Nepal in Canada and allow enough time to complete the process.

Indicate that the check is required for a volunteer event. If your local police service requires a request letter or fee-waiver letter, contact Her International.
All participants must follow Her International’s safeguarding and conduct requirements. Any interaction with children or students will be planned, supervised and facilitated by Her International or Creating Possibilities staff. Participants must not arrange independent contact with minors or program participants
Her International may cancel the trip if fewer than eight participants have registered by February 1, 2027.
Her International may also cancel or substantially change the trip because of war, terrorism, natural disaster, public health concerns, transportation disruptions or other circumstances that could jeopardize participant safety or make the project unworkable.
If Her International cancels the trip, participant fees paid directly to Her International will be refunded. Her International cannot reimburse airfare, visa costs, immunizations, insurance, personal travel arrangements or other expenses incurred by participants.
Before booking, review the airline’s cancellation and change policies and consider trip cancellation and interruption insurance.

Preparation and participant information

Her International will host pre-trip meetings covering the itinerary, cultural expectations, accommodations, construction activities, health and safety, packing and fundraising. Meetings will include time for questions and will be available by video conference for participants outside Kelowna. Dates will be shared with confirmed participants.
Because participants may be joining from across Canada, we will introduce the group before departure. Please send a short biography describing your work, interests and family, along with a photograph, by February 1, 2027. The information will be shared only with trip participants and out Nepal team.
